As an organization devoted to working towards the betterment of the society by harnessing the effects of arts and culture on human learning, Essence of Learning & Culture (ELC) has been striving to infuse arts and culture into the teaching of language by engaging students into the creativity of arts and understanding the rich cultural connotations embedded in process of learning. We have been investigating into the connections between arts and cognition; particularly on how the understanding of arts and its historical and cultural background knowledge can stimulate and enhance the linguistic development of children. New evidences have surfaced to re-affirm the hypothesis that culturally-based leaning is an indispensable element in the language acquisition process of children. There are multiple pathways to success in learning a new language, but at ELC, adopting a cultural approach has proven to be one of the most effective ways to boost the competence and mastery of language learning.
