Charity & Donation
Over the years, we have found that one of the most effective means of getting exposure and public attention on the subject is through doing charity and donation that aptly fits with our identity of being a non-profit organization. We have consistently been looking for partners, individuals, and organizations that aspired or shared our rationales. The most supportive of all has been the Caring for Children Foundation which has long been an active member amongst the charity organizations in Hong Kong and Canada, actively involving in the charity works for the poor and unfortunate ones in the remote rural areas of China. Just as we believed that education is by far the most effective way of ending poverty, they too shared our vision to promote the use of arts in the learning process of children by engaging them in the making of arts and learning its inherent cultural meanings in order to harness their individual strengths and potentials. Lots of works have been done for this end through direct donation of funds as well as the sales of books and artworks, holding exhibitions and talks and giving out souvenirs and booklets to various organizations in the community. These are by far the most tangible works that we have been carrying out throughout the years in addition to the many works and discussions, and activities going on behind the scenes. We believe there is the need for more work to be done before the concept of arts being conducive to learning and cognitive development will be fully recognized by the public. The following will be a brief outline of the plans that we are going to undertake in the near future in order to continue our mission to spread the news.

Past Publications for Charity

A jovial and hearty account of the childhood days spent together between the two sisters.
One is led to reminisce the good old days when we were young and carefree – a lasting
memory for all.
A collection of Noelle and Rachelle who spent hours and days on end one summer
capturing the scenic beauty of the Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden in downtown
Vancouver. Intense oriental aura is displayed in the works of the two budding artists.

A pocket-size journal comprising many of the child arts of Noelle Yau, drawing on the philosophy of ‘eight glories, eight indignities’ as its groundwork. The purpose of this production is to let us jot down the daily encounters so that we can live more productively for a better life.
A notepad carrying the scribbles of Noelle Yau sends delights to its owner. Child arts can be so organic, simple, unpretentious and yet entertaining !

Used Books Donation - Let Them Read
We have noticed that books have always been the most effective means to reach out to people. It is also a good marketing tool to get the message across and draw the attention of the people to the tasks that we are undertaking. For this reason, we are again doing a collection of used books from different channels such as using different media (web, social media, word of mouth etc) to promote the donation of used books for the children in China as charity. We have done this before but that this time we aim to expand our coverage to the wider public. We will be recruiting lots of volunteers in helping to collect the books from different donation points, sorting them under different categories and to work out the delivery plans. Initially we have got the support from Caring for Children Foundation in providing a space for the storage of books collected as well as helping us to make connections with the different organizations or departments in China to which those books will be donated. Discussions about the actual running of this operation are still undergoing between us and Caring for Children Foundation. However, one thing can be certain is that we are definitely going to challenge our goal to create a new records for this books donation project in terms of the number of books and the coverage of this project.

New Books
Publishing is also one of our fledging marketing tactics in promoting our cause. We strived to invite budding authors to try out on different genres from short story, anthology, autobiography, imaginative novels to photography. We believe that traditional books, even in the world of advanced digital technology, still holds its place in the "hand-over" of knowledge and culture from one generation to the next. Books are still very much cherished by the die-hard "bookworms." Books are something tangible and irreplaceable by those pocket-size digital pads which can never let you get the feel of leafing through the pages as your bookmark makes its way down to the back cover. Our recent project is the work of a young photographer who, through his own perspectives, tried to capture the city of Vancouver - a place where he has been trying hard to understand two years ago when he first arrived the city with his family as immigrants from China. As an amateur of photography, Tony tried to apply the artistic skills to interpret the subtleties of a foreign city where he is going to call home for years to come. It was indeed an invaluable learning experience for his cognitive development as he was transition from adolescence to adulthood. His photographic works are about to be published and it is expected to be in the market shortly. We are now discussing with him about the marketing plans for his work while he has agreed to donate a portion of the proceeds from the book sales for charity.
